Feeling Super

Like most, my sense of style has changed drastically during the pandemic. I swapped blazers for bralettes, skirts for sweats, and jumpsuits for jammies. Thus, there has been an art to looking professional for a last-minute Zoom call with a colleague.

Something I've relied upon are the Super Scrunchies from Free People. They are, as the name implies, large scrunchies. So what makes this so extraordinary? Not only are they well made and reliable (unlike the common hair tie, whose sole goal in life is to snap at the worst possible time), but their size is perfect for my temperamental, quarantined-length curly hair. I can quickly pull my hair back, and the fabric choices for the scrunchies look sleek and classy.

It's been my go-to for these "unprecedented days" and meetings.

Vacation in a Bottle

I have spent the last year in a bubble. I have not been outside, save for putting out the trash out or going to the pharmacy, – my pale sad skin has only gotten paler and sadder. I miss feeling kissed by the sun, as a warm breeze tickles my ears, and I melt into a meadow. Okay, there may not be a meadow, but that’s the dream, and this Watermelon Brightening Mask by Milk Makeup captures it perfectly.

The aloe leaf juice lets the mask gently glide onto your skin, unlike some clay masks that dry out so much they seem like they need their own skincare routines. The kaolin clay is anti-inflammatory and detoxifies, leaving your skin ready to glow from the watermelon serum. It really does feel like a dream.

After spending so much time indoors, self-care routines need to do more than leave you radiant on the outside. They need to transcend you to a dream world, your own meadow if you will, and this mask does just that.
